One highlight of my recent trip to New York City was an event hosted by Hendrick's Gin. Apparently no one's celebrating National Cucumber Day properly (I mean, I never even knew it was a thing!) so the most unusual gin decided to takeover the holiday, organizing the Cucumber Festival of Wonder. It was a "cavalcade of cucumber-inspired marvels" with whimsical characters everywhere including an accordionist and a stiltwalker greeting the crowd as they entered. Guests themselves dressed up in fedora hats, pompadour hairstyles, pleated pants, stripped suits and bolero jackets. From a penny farthing cycling concourse, roaming cocktail contraptions, to live performances, the holiday takeover was a spectacle of wonder on the pier.
